Good Boy

So,"Good Boy" is this horror flick that kind of flips the whole pet genre on its head. You’ve got this loyal dog named Buddy who moves with his owner Todd to this rural house,which is like a classic setup for any kind of story. but, I mean, instead of the usual warm fuzzies of a man’s best friend,we dive straight into some supernatural craziness. Right off the bat,you notice the vibe is kind of eerie, not just because of the creepy house. The filmmakers really play with sound and visuals. There are moments that are just quiet, and you can feel the tension just building,especially for a dog. i mean, it’s easy to forget that the main character is a pup. Buddy's perspective is interesting, sort of innocent,but also super protective, which is a neat angle for a horror story. You really start to feel for him. As the plot progresses, there are these dark entities lurking around,threatening Todd. It's not like a jump scare fest,which some horror movies lean into too much. instead, the fear feels more about the unknown, the idea of something sinister creeping into everyday life,and how someone as innocent as a dog perceives that threat. It makes you think about loyalty and fear in a pretty raw way. But then, there’s this balance between the horror elements and Buddy's loyalty. i mean, you see this little dog facing these big, scary shadows,and it kind of makes you reflect on how pets view their human companions.

They don’t always understand the human world, but they will protect you with everything they have, you know? It’s that bond that makes the horror more impactful because, as viewers, we really want to see Buddy keep Todd safe,even if it means facing terrifying supernatural beings. Character wise, Todd is your average guy, nothing too flashy about him. he kind of feels like a vessel for the story's themes of protection and fear. Not sure if that makes sense,but you don’t get deep character arcs here; it’s more about the situation and how Buddy reacts to it. The film shifts between some intense moments and quieter scenes where you really see Buddy's struggle. It's like you’re right there,feeling his anxiety over Todd's safety. Visually, there are some pretty striking shots. Rural homes can look beautiful,but this one has a slightly decayed feel to it, which fits the mood. It's kind of a character in itself,with its creaky floors and dark corners. This setting really emphasizes the isolation of Todd and Buddy. You get the sense that they're not just battling these supernatural forces but also grappling with their own fears in the solitude of the countryside. and the pacing, well,it’s a bit uneven in spots. there are times where it drags a little, where you’re like, “Okay, can we move on?” But then you hit a scene that pulls you right back in. It’s almost like a rollercoaster of tension and release. Does it always work? Not really.
